What the FRAK!! Okay that’s it
Today Oil prices jumped over $10 a barrel, although I really don’t know how big that is but according to the New York Times it is the BIGGEST JUMP EVER. Just Frakking Great.
How did I know something was up, I noticed the stock market was taking a nose dive. So now everyone’s savings, 401K, [Read more →]

Bikers in Riverfront
A couple folks have asked about a Cruiser Bike ride tonight and about getting a Riverfront Park crew to meet together at one of our local establishments, possibly McLoughlins (last week was Zengo). Others are asking about groups to do road bike rides.
I figured the easiest way to get folks talking was to connect them. So check out this link here, register once and you can post or subscribe to the topic.

Gas Guzzling SUV or Hybrid?
Don’t answer too fast… and read the links below.
It isn’t often that I get behind the wheel to drive on the roads, but every time I do I ask myself the same question…. “is it time for a new car”.
I don’t really have much in the way of driving. I cruise around Denver by foot, cruiser bike, by my ages old mountain bike, by bus, by light rail, by cab, and by scooter. I rarely drive my automobile (make that, my giant SUV). What drives me to get behind the wheel (get it) is usually a trip to the mountains which may or not have some bad snow conditions or carrying alot of stuff. [Read more →]

SNOW SNOW SNOW in VAIL

Yep, the mountains are getting the big dump we have all been waiting for.
Okay, I just skied Vail for two days and here are the runs that rock right now.
Dealers Choice
Northwoods
NorthStar
Lodgepole
And the rest of Game Creek Bowl was filling up with snow when I left. Sorry these are mostly cruisers but they are well covered and as soon as this storm is done I am sure there will be a ton more.
And after chatting with some of the locals working in the restaurants in the Village I also learned some additional scoop. First, many many tourists canceled their plans to hit Vail due to the terrible snow reports. Hotels have space and those same folks can’t react quick enough to fill up those rooms with bodies. So that means so much more room for skiing with less people.
Not bad.

Free Hugs hits Larimer
Out to dinner on Friday night I saw the famous “Free Hugs” sign that got incredible exposure online from a video and movement that was sweeping the country. I did get my own hug but noticed that the majority of folks out that night went running away rather than get hugged. Hmmmmm, I thought Denver was a bit more huggy.
Maybe they should come back to Larimer at 2 am?
If you don’t know about the Free Hugs Campaign here is a link to learn more.

Zoom Zoom… no brakes
The first time I took my new Electra Cruiser Bike on a ride I dang near wiped out. I was coming up to my first intersection and started grasping for the hand brakes.
There are no hand brakes on a cruise bike. It is far simpler than that. You pedal forward, you move forward. You pedal backwards, you stop. But it is taking my brain a little time to let go of all the years of using hand brakes on scooters, bikes, mountain bikes and pretty much anything on two wheels.
But other than that.. I love my new Cruiser bike. And here is the scoop on where to find them. [Read more →]

Moonlight Bike Ride Tonight

Grab your cruiser bike, road bike, mountain bike or trick bike and head over to the the Colorado State Capital in Downtown Denver tonight (Saturday) for the Kaiser Permanente Moonlight Bike Ride.
This just sounds fun to me. Cruising through the streets of Denver with the soft glow of the moon showing you the way. And with a “Gonzo” wave of folks taking off in the later start and a costume
contest element I think half of the event is just about having fun and, as is a common theme for me, being a kid again.
Now my favorite is a snow shoe under a full moon where the light from moon bouncing off the snow literally makes it bright as day. But for city living this sounds like the same great idea. And don’t forget it goes to benefit a good cause…
