I love the snow!

Snow in the plaza
I do. While others are cursing, swearing, complaining, whining, venting, ranting and raving about the misery of this snow… I’m celebrating.
Of course I don’t have to drive. Living downtown does have its perks. But for those of you who do live downtown, and this blog definitely does focus on life downtown, you know what I am talking about.
Last night I rallied up a few friends to pick a local restaurant within walking distance. After bundling up from my heavy tread trail shoes to my smartwool cap I set out across the city to meet friends at a warm and cozy spot for a couple drinks and dinner.
They say life is 95% attitude. So make this plan for yourself if you can…
1: Pick a cozy restaurant, bistro, or pub within walking distance or a short cab ride. Embrace the cab like you live in Manhattan. It’s warm and you don’t have to worry about driving on slick roads if your beverage is stronger than hot tea.
2: Make sure the restaurant has windows, preferably big windows, looking out at the snow.
3: Rally your friends or that special someone to meet you. The more the merrier.
4: Get your butt out there and enjoy our first snow storm. Fill your night with laughter, warmth and great company. Snow storms are the perfect excuse to gather. Do it.
Which brings me to the commenting section of this post. What is your favorite spot to curl up in when mother nature gives us these fantastic snow storms (thunderstorms are just as good). There are so many posts about the best patios out there… this is for the cozy protection from the elements spots.
Last night we hit Lola. With their newly enclosed patio we were able to sit and eat at the bar gazing out at the snow storm. Other favorites include Potager (lets hope the heaters are working 100%), Jax (good windows), Z-cusine, Vita, and I am guessing that spot at the top of the Hyatt would be pretty cool. One of my friends last night said his favorite nook during a big storm is My Brothers Bar. He likes to be enclosed completely in a warm environment. I prefer the big windows to see the storm rage outside. Different points of view but merit to both.
So the question I pose to all of you is… if you were going out tonight to find a cozy spot in this storm what would be your pick?
