Frontier non stop to Costa Rica starting November 30th.

A shot I took at Tamarindo beach in Costa Rica
You heard me right, you can go to Frontier’s website and book non stop between Denver and Costa Rica.

I love Costa Rica and have been there many, many times. The beaches rule, the surfing is awesome, the people are friendly, and now it is one flight away. The flights only go into San Jose which is a great start. For my travels, I prefer Liberia to go into the North and around the Tamarindo area. Yet I tell myself it is still a great step. My guess is that Frontier will be adding some more flights into the Liberia airport soon.
So I decided to try a test and see how the fares were. My first thought was to check out a flight over Halloween leaving late October and returning in early November. My test brought up nothing. No flights and no alternatives. Well, I thought, perhaps the service isn’t on those days or maybe the start date for flights is even farther out in the future. “Maybe I’ll just call them” I said to myself. So I did.

The first indicator that this was new news (double new) was in their menu which offered me the international option to fly into Mexico or Canada. Hmmmmm, no Costa Rica there.

But I wanted to hear some good news so I waded through the online system (hint… pressing zero doesn’t really help). and got to an operator. The operator, a very cheerful lady, happily told me that the service would be starting on November 30th and YES you can book now.

Ok, lets check the fares now. How about a Christmas through New Years getaway? So I searched for December 23rd through January 2nd, just enough time to really kick back and relax and sing Frosty the Snow Man under the Costa Rican canopy while eating some holiday ceviche.

The fares came back at $929 for the specific dates I wanted or $889 if I modified them. Not bad, not bad at all for a holiday weekend.

Now lets try something a little farther out, such as February 10th through the 17th. Just about the time that the cold of winter may be giving you a reason to hit a beach for a break. As a ski lover there is really only one reason I wouldn’t want to be in Colorado anytime over the winter and the beaches of Costa Rica would be it. I hit the submit button, waited for the fares, and then got a wow of a great suprise.

Wahoo!!  The fares came back as low as $470 or $495 for my specific dates.  Okay boys and girls, this means some Costa Rica trips are definitely in my future.  They should be in yours too.

Of course, we have to see where fares go as planes start to fill up and the seats are more scares.  But I won’t worry about that today because for now I just want to picture some cool ocean breezes, an ice cold Imperial Beer, and some tasty vittles.

Enjoy fellow Denverites, our escape routes just got better.
