Glamour shots in the Riverfront Park Plaza
Yep, looks like the boys sitting at McLoughlins had a great deal to talk about this afternoon with a model photo shoot in the Plaza at Riverfront Park. I left my camera with someone while I ran and errand and returned to find my camera with a note on it that said “You must copy me”. Here is what I and all of you missed today in the plaza.
Is it me, or is the CPV more like Manhattan every day.

Where is everybody… sissies
This morning I was cruising by Dixon’s on an errand and decided to stop in for an early morning breakfast. How surprised was I when I found that the inside was packed and not a soul on the patio.
When I was asked if I wanted to be inside or out, with the sun shining and a cool breeze, I of course opted for the outside. What can be better than sitting on a beautiful city street patio with a cup o’ joe and some good vittles? Apparently everything. The waiter said everyone thought it was too chilly outside.
C’mon Denverites… toughen up.

King Sooper predictions from 2002 hold true
That’s right, one of the many rumors about a grocery store in the CPV looks to be coming true. Word on the street is that a King Sooper grocery store project will be going in next to the new Union Station Neighborhood. The location is going to be great for Riverfront Park as it will be right at 20th and Chestnut.
How cool and how needed is this little prize. Here is some old footage of the prediction back from 2002 from Denver City Scape Website. I, personally, am beyond excited about walking across the bridge to grab fresh groceries. Looks like we might be spending some more time in the kitchen cooking. I also found this cool little commercial broker listing. I have no idea if the rendering is still valid, but it is the best I can do right now.
Too cool, I am bouncing off the walls just waiting for this to happen. Hopefully we will get some more official details soon.
11/7/02 - A King Soopers would anchor a $67 million housing and retail development planned near Coors Field. Officials say they hope to see the store opened by 2004. The 53,000-square-foot King Soopers would be built on land owned by Trillium Corp. between Chestnut, Wewatta, 20th and 19th streets. The store will have a three-story above-ground parking structure with 581 spaces. The development also would include about 212 market-rate apartments and 108 senior housing units.

Not your usual coal trains
I got these photos yesterday afternoon. I am used to seeing the coal trains roll through Denver, but this certainly caught me by suprise. It is so easy to forget what is happening on the other side of the world. As these tanks roll across the country I wonder what will happen next. [Read more →]
