Pool opens March 30th

thurmarch0020.JPG

A sign in the Glass House says the pool opens March 30th.

Can’t you tell?

We got more snow. Uh… yeah??  At least it helps our water supply.

Bivalve mollusks of the family Ostreidae

oystertrays.jpg

Or simply put, Oysters, Oysters, Oysters… and tons of them.

Last night Jax hosted a huge oyster eating contest and the place was packed. First of all you have to know that this wonderful event was to benefit New Orleans and to provide some assistance for the oyster industry devastation there. So every time a customer (of which there were many) ordered oysters (of which there were even more) the proceeds went to good cause. So of course we helped out the best we could. Crowds of people came into Jax and their drink of choice was the Martini. There were Martinis of every color and combination from wall to wall. The bar itself looked like a martini lineup as they cooled with ice waiting to be filled. [Read more →]

Ride the waves

water0002.JPG

The water is raging around REI with both Cherry Creek and the Platte going full steam. I cruised by the other day and the water level almost exceeds the stage area. Time to pull out your kayak and head over. If you are thinking that you want to go hit the mountains for kayaking you might be in for an unpleasant surprise… from what I saw last time I was up there most everything will be melted soon and leave the boaters high and dry.

Does this mean we are in for a dry summer… I have to think so. Not only does the lack of snow hurt our fun it impacts our water supply. Bummer.

Naked

ONE Riverfront Townhomes

Thats right, the ONE Townhomes are naked.

That green fenced in walkway that has been in front of them has been removed and you can now check them out street side. These are a great addition to Little Raven and give the street scape a wonderful look. Just imagine living in these luxury townhomes with views out the park.

Strawberry Pancakes

snooze0001.JPG

Just stopped into Snooze yesterday morning on my bike and sampled the pancake of the day. This one was a strawberry filled pancake with maple syrup spiced with orange zest. YUM!!

For those who don’t know, snooze does a pancake of the day every day and they go from the basic to the crazy, but always tasty.

Far too sad

This is a brief blog entry.

In yesterday’s Denver Post there was the saddest article about a sweet pooch that might have to be put down due to the suffering they are experiencing from the recent Dog and Cat Food poisoning accident.

This is terrible. I can’t imagine, can’t even conceive, of how awful this must be. If you have a loved family member of the canine or feline persuasion and haven’t heard about this visit this link. Tainted pet food products are being recalled and have claimed lives already. This isn’t brand new and most of you know, but on the off chance that someone out there hasn’t heard I wanted to spread the word.
