Lost Bags, and existentialism viewpoint

lost bag

I just happened to run across this site and wanted to share it, but I admit it’s not for everyone.

The site is called Lost Bags, Lost Souls, a Skiing Misadventure and is an online documentary of a journey across the world to ski a far remote mountain.  I won’t give away all the episodes, which I couldn’t do anyway since I haven’t seen them all.  But to give you a taste, there is a great discussion of a rather unusual philosophy concerning jet lag.

The theory is that jet lag is not just physical, it is spiritual.  Our souls can’t keep pace with our bodies when traveling that fast so it takes time for  our souls to catch up.  We are essentially “lost luggage” ourselves until we join back together.  Hmmmmmm.. and I thought it was just the cocktail I had at 30,000 feet.

Worth checking out, and a trip I would love to take myself.

Happy Birthday Maggie (one day old)

Birthday

Okay folks, time to share some celebration.

Today’s post is in honor of a new birthday! Some friends introduced a new little lady into the world yesterday. So today marks her one day birthday. Happy Birthday Maggie! Very cool! The parents are some great peeps so if you visit this post make sure to wish them some congrats!

And to stick with the Birthday theme, here is a website that tells you what the #1 hit was on the day you were born. I plugged in Maggie’s B-day (yesterday) but no data loaded yet. We will just have to check back later to see what her dance tune is for that magic day.

Denver’s Best “not in your sweatpants” Mexican Restaurant

Okay okay, I give. After numerous comments that I can’t mix a Chubby’s and a Lola in the same poll I am listening.

The readers have swayed my opinion..

I started out with one poll for the Best Mexican Restaurant. But after a great deal of lobbying from readers that this is really a two part question I have divided up the polls.

To quote one commenter, we now have the best dive Mexican Restaurant and in this post I have created the best “not in your sweatpants” Mexican restaurant. It does make sense, so please vote in these two different areas.

Marczyk’s Rocks

bigcab2007-01-20_03-43-52.JPGI just wanted to pass on some kudos to Marczyk’s. If you need fresh seafood, meat, cheese or about a hundred other things this is my favorite spot to go. We just stopped in to get some grub to cook while we are cozy during the snowstorm (snow beacon again) and I wanted to spread the word in case someone out there doesn’t know about it yet.

Be a food snob. Check it out. It’s worth it

The longest cab ride ever

taxiHere is a story that will make you laugh.

Yesterday we were going to a friend’s house for a dinner party. Now you have to understand that we have a great policy of always taking a cab when we expect to be having a glass or two of wine. Usually that means less than ten dollars and a trip across town. Sometimes it’s more if we are going to the burbs for dinner and we can’t take the light rail. Either way, taking a cab is the right thing to do.

However this dinner party was in Evergreen. But we stayed with the same plan. The farther away it is, the worse it would be to drive. And since I lived in Vail for all those years and we took cabs across town all the time, I didn’t think there would be a problem.

I was wrong. [Read more →]
